Recognized as one of the best places to start a business due to its strong local economy, this city is an entrepreneurial haven.
Cheese Capitol of the World-
Plymouth has a long history in the cheese industry. Once the site of the National Cheese Exchange where cheese commodity prices were set, it now claims the title “Cheese Capital of the World”™ , and is home to a few major cheese processing facilities such as Sargento, Master’s Gallery, Sartori, and Great Lakes Cheese. Every New Year’s Eve Plymouth hosts a very special event know as the “New Year’s Eve Big Cheese Drop”.
Plymouth downtown district-
Plymouth has a beautiful historic downtown district, which plays host to a mix of retail, the arts, restaurants, office and service uses. This quiet little city has quite a few quaint little shops: Cain’s Bridal Wreath, Maggie’s Closet, and the Red Rooster just to name a few! Unique venue opportunities such as the Exchange Bank Coffeehouse where you can sip coffee in a bank vault, antique, hard-to-find used reads at Dear Old Books, live music Wednesday nights at 52 Stafford, and a multitude of activities at the Plymouth Arts Center. The main traffic artery through the city runs through downtown. This creates a vibrant area lined with unique shops, eateries and boutiques. The downtown also offers a pedestrian network connecting neighborhoods, schools, parks and commercial areas.
Plymouth is a small town hamlet that bridges the two major geographical landscapes of the area, a flat coastal plain and the hilly Kettle Moraine. This charming city has an intact, historical downtown, and is home to the County’s fair grounds. Labor Day weekend, the fairgrounds magically transform to include equestrian and dirt-track racing, a carnival, and vendors. With strong agricultural roots, the area school district has strong programming in food science, engineering and advanced manufacturing. This gives local residents a one-of-a-kind education. As an outreach, each elementary school offers summer youth athletic camps as well as extra-curricular opportunities throughout the school year.
This community is a great place to raise kids, walk dogs, or just be a part of!
